The
concept of developing e-portfolios or Electronic Portfolios is based on
the fact that the reflective practice of creating portfolios enables
students to document and track their learning; develop an integrated,
coherent picture of their learning experiences; and enhance their
self-understanding. This process enables the students to plan and
proceed towards their future goals and allow them to showcase their
skills and knowledge to prospective employers and research supervisors.
An assessment tool has been developed and implemented for assessment
of learning in the design and development of evidence based
e-portfolios. Student participants of this study developed e-portfolios
where students' provided critical reflection on the process of
learning and supported their statements with appropriate artifacts. The
generic tool developed has been used by identifying portfolios of
students majoring in different subject areas. These portfolios included
students' skills and competencies in formal and non formal settings as
well as their informal learning. Students can evaluate their own
learning and therefore, are better prepared to pursue their future
career goals. Findings of this study suggest that design and
development e-portfolios provide an appropriate platform for
integrative learning where students can visualize the links between the
different concepts learn throughout their course of study and beyond.
Learning targets are statements
intended learning which teachers craft to guide the teaching and learning
process and to engage, support and hold students accountable for their
learning. It also allows the students to know where they are going to begin and
pursue the topic of study. It helps the students take charge of their learning
and involve them in the assessment process.
Teachers should use Rubrics in order to evaluate student's performance. This is a common problem among teachers because they gave many activities to their students but they don't have a "Authentic Rubrics" to know what is now the level of their students.. A good teacher must have and know how to use RUBRICS.

As
a future teacher, we will be able to understand the basic concepts,
relationships and process involved in assessment, measurement,
evaluation and test. As we all know that measurement is defined as how
much do the students learn of know. In measuring the students learning,
the students are able to answer particular question. In assessment of
learning, it is how far the students have learned. And the test is a
tool in assessment. I’ve also learned the key to effective testing.
These are the objectives, instruction, assessment and evaluation. In
objectives, as a future teacher it is our statements of the aim of the
instruction. It should be express in what the students be able to do or
know. In instruction, this is our guide to teach the lessons and is
should correspond directly to the objectives.
Module
2
ESTABLISHING LEARNING TARGETS
Learning targets are statements
intended learning which teachers craft to guide the teaching and learning
process and to engage, support and hold students accountable for their
learning. It also allows the students to know where they are going to begin and
pursue the topic of study. It helps the students take charge of their learning
and involve them in the assessment process.
There are five types of learning
targets; Knowledge and simple
understanding, deep understanding
and reasoning, skills, products and affective. In Knowledge and simple understanding includes the
mastery of facts and information while in deep understanding and reasoning
includes problem solving, critical thinking and judgment. Skills on other hand
involve behavior in which the knowledge, understanding and reasoning are being
used overtly. Products is a sample student work like paper, report, art work or
other project that demonstrate the ability, knowledge, understanding, reasoning
and skills.Lastly, the affective which includes attitudes, values, interests,
feelings and beliefs.

Keys to Effective Testing
A good test is well construct and is effective in assessing the
students. I’ve learned that in conducting a good test the following
factors should be considered. Validity refers to what is intended to
measure. A test that is valid is always reliable. A test is reliable
when the score that was obtained from the retest is parallel to the
first score obtained. In addition, appropriateness and fairness should
also be considered. In appropriateness the test items must assess the
exact performance of called for in the learning objectives. A good test
is also fair and not biased to the examinee. It should not be offensive
to examinee subgroups. I’ve also learned that a good and effective test
can also be obtained through the use of TOS or Table of Specification.
TOS is the teacher’s blueprint or guide in making a good and effective
test for the students. A TOS is basically a table chart like that goes
over topic that will be on a test.
Development of Assessment Tools
A
good teacher is the one who gives the proper and right assessment to
his students. In this module I’ve learned some of the most important and
most used assessment tools that are effective and significant in
assessing the students. Some of which are Multiple Choice Test,
Completion Test, and Essay Test.
In
creating MCT I’ve learned that complex and awkward word arrangement
should be avoided. As well as unfamiliar words, phrases and terms
because this will lead to the student’s confusion. In addition, stem
that reveals the answer to another item and using of unnecessary words
and phrases which are irrelevant to the problem should also be avoided.
I’ve also learned that in constructing a completion test clues like a
and a should avoid. This will give clues to the students. Blank spaces
should be located at the end or near end of the statement and never at
the beginning. Same with MCT and completion test, I’ve also learned that
in constructing and checking Essay test there are also things to
consider. Every teacher would agree if I’d say that essay test is one of
the hardest assessment tools to construct and check. You should give
quality time to check and evaluate the papers accordingly. Clear
instructions and questions should also be given.
In
general, I’ve learned that it is important to know the proper and right
assessment tool to use in assessing the students. Through this, we
future teachers will know if we are effective enough as a teacher and if
the student has learned.
Module 5
CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD TEST
This
module explains about the criteria for selecting a good test. There are
two major criteria for selecting tests the reliability and the
validity. No matter what type of test we use, it should be reliable and
valid. By reliability we mean that the test yields similar results when
it is repeated over a short period of time or when a different form is
used. A reliable test can be viewed as consistent, dependable, and
stable. By validity we mean that the test does measure what it is
represented as measuring. Validity refers to the appropriateness of
score-based inferences; or decisions made based on the students test
results. An invalid test does not measure what it should. For example, a
pen-and-pencil test is not suitable for measuring athletic abilities.
Module 6
Item
analysis refers to the process of examining the student’s response to
each items of the test. An item that has desirable characteristics can
be retained for subsequent use and that with undesirable characteristics
is either be revised or rejected.
In
this module we learned the computation for index of difficulty and
index of discrimination. When we say difficulty index, it refers to the
proportion of the number of the students in the upper and lower groups
who answered an item correctly. We learned the index range and their
difficulty level; from 0.00-0.20 it means that the test is very
difficult, 0.21-0.41 in difficult level, 0.41-0.60 moderate, 0.60-0.81
easy, and 0.81-1.00 is very easy.
And
we learned about the different ways of interpreting the tests scores.
Scores can be interpreted in ranking which is the arrangement of the
scores in order of magnitude or size. And the used of graphical and
tabular forms in interpreting the tests scores which it give a fairly
clear picture about the performance of the students.
Module 7
EDUCATIONAL STATISTIC
The Educational Statistic in module seven is the way to learn on how to
apply the method, procedures and rules for organizing, summarizing and
the interpreting information. These modules are more on solving
especially the mean, median and mode. I learn to solve this, it is very
helpful to the students in order for them to be a knowledgeable and to
be a good future teacher someday and being a good teacher we should have
a full knowledge not only about in solving but in another thing also,
so that and this is the opportunity for us to learn everything so, we
grab it now. If we are knowledgeable teacher then our students is
knowledgeable also, therefore we got success
Educational Statistics is important of learning’s because in this way
the students can have more knowledge and this would help for them to
enhance for their skills and knowledge in teaching.
A rubric is
a scoring tool that lists the criteria for piece of work, or “what
counts”. For example, purpose, organization, details, voice, and
mechanics are often what count in a piece of writing. It is usually a
one-or two-page document that describes different levels of quality,
from excellent to poor, for a specific assignment. It is usually used
with a relatively complex assignment, such as a long-term project, an
essay, or a research paper. Its purposes are to give students
informative feedback about their works in progress and to give detailed
evaluations of their final products.
Teachers should use Rubrics in order to evaluate student's performance. This is a common problem among teachers because they gave many activities to their students but they don't have a "Authentic Rubrics" to know what is now the level of their students.. A good teacher must have and know how to use RUBRICS.
